The start of a new year brings renewed energy and hope. It’s customary at this time of year for Business Owners to focus on planning and setting goals with a vision of great things to come in the years ahead.
We are regularly reminded of the importance of setting clear Vision and Goals. Documented Vision and Goals are important; however, I don’t believe they are enough.
It’s not enough to set a SMART goal of one new client a month for 12 months. Focusing on that goal alone will not bring you results. Setting strategy toward that goal, and taking action to make it happen, is what will bring you results.
The game-changer to successfully achieving your goals lies in setting solid strategies for exactly “how” you are going to achieve those goals.
Your strategy is your roadmap. A good strategy will help you make smart decisions and use your resources wisely.
For every goal you need to answer the question “How am I going to do that?” Is your strategy to build strategic partnerships? Or, to increase your digital marketing and online presence? Or, to develop and implement a formal referral program?
When you’ve assessed the best strategy, you need to answer the question “What do I need to do to make that happen?” Do you need to hire someone to implement? Do you need to brainstorm about who is your Ideal Client? Do you need to research referral programs? List the actions you need to take and put time in your calendar to make them happen.
